Why the Campus and Why InterVarsity?
InterVarsity’s Rivers & Rails region serves college campuses across two and a half states. The “Rivers & Rails” name comes from three beautiful rivers that meet in Pittsburgh and flow south through West Virginia and Ohio along with the railroads which have shaped this geography’s economic realities. “Rivers and Rails” reflects the natural beauty of this place along with the hardships communities in this area have endured.
As campus ministers with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, we believe God is bringing a message of HOPE to the communities in Ohio, West Virginia and Western PA. We long to see each of the 800,000 students transformed by the gospel, each of the 180 campuses renewed and communities of young people developed with the character and capacity to change the world. InterVarsity has college ministries at 18 campuses in the Rivers & Rails region and we yearn to reach the remaining 162. We trust God is calling new partners to join us in reaching all 180 campuses.
